Yes, children can use the NSD Spinner, but adult supervision is recommended.
Yes, all NSD Spinners are latex free.
NSD Spinners have two start types. Auto-Start models start with a spring-loaded button, so there is no cord to pull. Classic models start with a pull cord, like a yo-yo. After the rotor starts, keep it going by moving your wrist in a circular motion. See How to Use for step-by-step photos and videos.
Yes, the NSD Spinner is simple to use, and instructions are included with the product.
The string is not required. Experienced users can catch the momentum right away and speed up the rotor while its RPM is still slow. Some users start the rotor with a finger flip or by rolling it on their jeans. Beginners need a lot of practice to do this.
Auto-Start is the spring-loaded version of the Spinner, so you do not need to worry about losing a pull cord. The Cord-Start version works like a yo-yo. With either version, you need to keep the rotor going by moving your wrist correctly after the initial start.
The NSD Dynamics electric-start models use a small rechargeable lithium-iron battery, so there are no batteries to replace. The battery recharges itself as you use the spinner. If you do not use it often, you can charge it with a USB Type-C cable. For other models, see each product page.
Start with about one minute, then build up gradually to five to ten minutes per session.
The NSD Spinner can reach speeds of up to 15,000 RPM.
You change the resistance by adjusting the speed at which you spin the device.
The NSD Essential Spinner delivers up to 26 lb-inch of torque at 10,000 RPM. The Titan Spinner, which weighs up to 1.5 lbs, delivers up to 50 lb-inch of torque at 10,000 RPM.
The NSD Plastic Spinner weighs approximately 13 ounces, while the Titan Spinner weighs up to 1.5 lbs.
Yes, the NSD Spinner is small and compact, so it is easy to take with you wherever you go.
The NSD Spinner is quiet enough for most offices and libraries, but the sound depends on the model and on your environment. If noise is a concern, the metal Titan Spinners and the Metal Spinner (PB-588C Silver) are very quiet and silky smooth.
No, the NSD Spinner is not waterproof and should not be submerged in water.
Yes, you can clean the NSD Spinner with a damp cloth.
Yes, you can take the upper and lower shells apart to clean it, and you can reverse the two inner tracks to make the Spinner as good as new. Taking it apart for cleaning as shown in our official videos does not affect your warranty. Please refer to the following videos:
The Essential Spinner (from about $26.99) has a manual start and is a low-barrier entry to grip and forearm work. The AutoStart Spinner (from about $39.99) starts with a click. The Performance Spinner (from about $49.95) has higher resistance and is built for athletes. The Titan and motorized Dynamics models cost more. See the Spinners collection for current prices.
Metal gyro rotors are heavier than plastic ones. Metal Spinners also deliver more force and torque.
A hand gripper trains one movement: squeezing. An NSD Spinner is a gyroscopic trainer that loads the wrist and forearm through continuous circular motion, and the faster the rotor spins, the more resistance it creates.
Yes, the NSD Spinner is suitable for anyone looking to improve their grip strength, including athletes, musicians, office workers, and people recovering from injuries.
Most people notice a stronger, more secure grip in 2 to 4 weeks of near-daily short sessions, with larger gains over 8 to 12 weeks. See our guide: Grip Strength Training: Science, Exercises & Dosage.
Most days. Short daily sessions of a few minutes work better than one long weekly session, because grip strength responds to frequency.
Yes. The NSD Spinner can help improve grip strength and wrist and forearm strength, which can benefit athletes in many sports.
Yes, the NSD Spinner can be used to help improve grip strength and dexterity during injury rehabilitation. For a worked example, see pickleball elbow: causes, fixes and the exercises that actually last. Check with your doctor or physical therapist first.
Yes, the NSD Spinner can be used in physical therapy to help improve hand and arm strength.
The NSD Spinner can help build your hand and forearm muscles, but you should check with your physical therapist first. If the tendonitis is caused by repetitive motion, it may help, because it builds hand and forearm muscles and lets you rotate your wrist in directions you do not usually use. If the tendonitis is severe, it may not be suitable, because getting the rotor started and keeping it going takes some force and speed.
The NSD Spinner can help rebuild forearm strength, grip endurance and wrist control, but with tennis elbow it is important to use it carefully and gradually. Using too much resistance too early may make the pain worse. Use it as a later-stage rehab and conditioning tool, not as the first step during a painful flare-up. First reduce activities that aggravate the elbow and begin gentle rehab exercises, such as wrist-extension isometrics and light eccentric wrist-extension exercises.
Once your pain is more controlled, you can start very gently:
The NSD Dynamics Spinner PB-788E Speed X is easier to start because it has an electric-start function, so you do not need to pull a cord or use extra force. That can help when your elbow is sensitive. Please check with your doctor or physical therapist to confirm this exercise is appropriate for your stage of recovery. See also our pickleball elbow guide.
Usually the fingers are undertrained, not weak, and finger independence is mostly a skill your nervous system can learn. See Finger Independence Exercises.
